内容简介：
Classical rhetoric provides a minefield of heuristics for writing teachers. For example, two key rhetorical theories of classical rhetoric--- stasis and enthymeme---often find their way into the writing class as inventive heuristics. This lecture begins with some ontological issues of writing---issues often neglected by writing teachers, then introduces the theories of stasis and enthymeme, and finally demonstrates their application in the writing class. It is believed that such conceptual heuristics can not only help student writers produce persuasive essays, but also develop their critical thinking.
主讲人简介：
邓志勇/教授，现任菠菜资源平台大全副经理、修辞批评研究中心主任，中国修辞学会理事、上海外文学会理事、上海语文学会理事；曾任第四届上海市学位委员会学科评议组成员、上海理工大学菠菜资源平台大全副经理（2001.11-2012.4）、上海理工大学学术委员会委员、学科带头人、理论语言学研究中心主任、《上海理工大学校报》（社科版）编辑。
自1998年在上海外国语大学攻读博士学位以来，一直致力于西方修辞学、修辞批评、语言学、英汉修辞比较、英语写作学等领域的研究，开辟了一片广阔、稳定和可持续发展的研究领域，以修辞理论、修辞哲学、修辞批评为核心，不断向相关领域拓展，研究特色鲜明，在西方修辞理论及修辞批评研究领域处于国内前沿或领先水平。迄今出版学术专著3部、高等学校英语专业教材1部，其他编著/合著多部，另有2部学术专著待出版；发表学术论文70余篇，其中外语类或语言学类（CSSCI及北大版）核心期刊论文33篇；主持并完成国家社科基金项目、浦江人才计划项目、市教委教材项目各1项，校级科研项目3项。
